The IEEE P1904.1 “Service Interoperability in Ethernet Passive Optical Networks” (SIEPON) Working Group strongly endorses the candidacy of Mr. Alex Gelman, who has been nominated to serve as Vice President of Standards Activities for the IEEE Communications Society. Over the last two years the SIEPON WG has benefited directly from Mr. Gelman’sdedication, technical knowledge, and leadership. These qualities, together with his distinguished service record over the last 20 years as a member and Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Standards Board, a member of the IEEE Standards Association Standards Board, and as a contributor to many other efforts within the standards development community, make him an ideal candidate for this position. With Mr. Gelman in this crucial position, we are confident the IEEE Communications Society would enjoy effective and positive leadership as we navigate a challenging and rapidly evolving standardization landscape.
